The Master’s Recap – 2024

In a spectacular start to the 2024 Major’s, Tiger Wood’s showed us yet again why he is the GOAT, Malbon and Jason Day gain some “unwanted” attention and Scottie Scheffler is inhumanly good at golf.

Although not the weekend Tiger was hoping for, making the cut for the 24th consecutive time at Augusta National is a feat we may never see again. Perhaps this outing was just an excuse to get the new Sun Day Red in front of the millions of viewers, but to see Tiger roaming the fairways again is always going to make us golfing fanatics smile. Perhaps none more than Neal Shipley, who finished his first appearance as not only low amateur but had the chance to play 18 holes with Tiger Woods at Augusta National, a dream few of us will ever attain.

Switching over to fashion, it was hard to go past the new Malbon and Jason Day partnership. The week began with some fantastic parachute pants, that certainly drew eyes, but were perhaps not well suited to the windy Friday weather. However, the week ended with Jason Day finishing his round without his Malbon sweater after being asked to remove it by Augusta National representatives. In the aftermath, however, this appears to be a well-managed Nike Bred moment.

However, none of the other going on’s at Augusta can take away from just how good Scottie Scheffler is playing. Whether you look at his 4 wins from 9 starts, his sub 69 scoring average or the fact that he has made his caddy one of the biggest earners in golf, you cannot deny that his current form is unbelievable.

This year’s performance was a testament to Scottie’s game, holding strong as others were crumbling around him. If you required evidence, you needn’t have searched beyond the 12th hole, where Scheffler skilfully placed his approach shot onto the perilous par-3, landing it pin-high, and calmly sunk a two-putt par, reminiscent of Woods’ mastery of the same hole and its legendary winds during his pursuit of the green jacket on five previous occasions.

With The Master’s in the rearview mirror we now look ahead to the PGA Championship with one key questions, can Scottie do it again?
